"PARIS HEAVYWEIGHTS" - PREFACE
We have all heard about records that have been made but never released. This one was just such a record. We made it in -1972- for Odile and Gérard Terrones of "Futura" Records. Don't ask me why it never came out because upon listening to the two days of recording you are going to discover some nice music played by the "Paris Heavyweights", all on top of their form.

The first day's recording was with the quintet. I had one off the all time greats of Modern Jazz on drums, Kenny Clarke. René Urtreger one of the all time european pianists. As a matter of fact René would be a "heavy" just about anywhere. Luigi Trussardi on the bass who was a part of a quartet I headed at the time. A beautiful, musical player. On the congas, Humberto Canto a Cuban "Heavyweight" in the same mould as Chano Pozo. They all sound wonderful. A bonus is Kenny playing a semi-rock tempo on "Sean's Dream". His only binaire recording. How about that ?

For reasons beyond our control we were unable to finish the entire record so the second day I was lucky to get Eddy Louiss and André Ceccarelli.
Eddy and I had worked together with Kenny Clarke for about three years. Three beautiful years in which I learned to appreciate the profound musicality of Eddy Louiss. A master musician and a great human being.

André Ceccarelli is an all around swinger. This record proves it. He plays the binaire things better than just about anybody -and- listen to him on "My shining Hour", he's convincing, Yeah André !

Eddy Adams rescued this record for us, thanks Eddy.

So get ready for the "Paris heavyweights", here they come, and they are coming out swinging !
